IMPORTANT OEAM NEWS!

IMPORTANT OEAM NEWS: If you have fic there that you want to save, I suggest that you nab it from the site by March 31. The host is changing PHP whatever that is and I am not sure we will have a site after that. I have no way to change or fix anything and frankly, no one uses the site anymore so if it goes down, i may just drop it. If it does not disappear, I may have Ao3 archive it.

If any of you know anything about PHP and such, let me know.

To all OEAM Big Bang Writers

To all writers at OEAM Big Bang,

If any of you have your story done with 10,000 words or more, please go ahead and post to Ao3 and post to Collections / Challenges: OEAM Big Bang (OEAM_Big_Bang). I will also make a post here and at OEAM LH/DW for you to link your story. You may also post it at http://www.ofelvesandmen.com/ - if your fandom is not represented, let me know and I can add your fandom and your characters. You can also post a link to this on the LJ/DW community.

Let us say this is open from now until March 15. This will give anyone who almost got atory done some time to finish it. I think I may even have one to post myself!

Is anyone out there? I need a head count

HI all!

Soooo, are any of you done? I have hard several say they will not be finishing and I need to see if we have any who are. Even if we have only one who finishes,we will post them. We have one artist signed up so we may need to do some of our won art as well.

Holiday Book Swappers

We are getting started a little late this year so we will say holiday instead of Christmas and make the sending deadline December 10th. Let’s try to get our requests in by December 1 – that’s Friday of this week so I can get your assignments to you as quickly as humanly possible. You will contact your recipient and find out their preferences and maybe even what book they’d love. We will aim for all swaps to be done and everyone having a book by the Twelfth Day. Or January 6th.

IMPORTANT: Card Swap Info

Dear Card Swappers!

I’ve thought about the card swap and this is the way we will do it. A card swap is pretty easy… you basically send cards to folks and get cards from folks. I don’t think our list of participants is terribly long so it shouldn’t pose a hardship to anyone. Cards can be pretty cheap and postage for 20 wouldn’t be much more than a fast food meal with a large drink.

I will act as the clearinghouse.

1. We set a deadline for participants.
2. Everyone sends ME their address and I send a copy of the list to all participants.
3. You send a card to everyone on the list.
4. You get cards from everyone on the list.
5. You make some new friends and get some nice cards to enjoy for the holidays.

I think December 5th is a good number. Send me your addies by December 5th and I will email the list to you by December 8th and the rest is up to you.

You don’t have to answer this post. Just email your addy and I’ll get the list made!

Okie Dokey and a bit of a check-in

Hey ya'll!

Are you about done? Have you been putting it off? Do you need more time?

I am not done or hardly started because I am a putter offer and I need much more time.

I am proposing this little fix and addition of time:

Weekly Update!

HI all,

I've heard from a few of you in the 1st mandatory check-in. Please do reply. After Sept 15, if I've not heard from you, I'll send a message then if nothing, I'll drop you from the challenge. There is no penalty next year or anything if you do get dropped.

I made the signup posts visible so beta readers can see them and so you can also see them and change them if need be. You probably want to go back and decide on which you're doing, Big or Mini. Also you can add your summary if you need to.

If you want to beta, the signups are open. if you know a beta who you thnk might like to do one of our stories, tell them to join in!

The 15th is the snippet post. It will remain open so you can post your snippet anytime.

1st mandatory Check in

HI all!

I hope you all have done more than I have so far. I have thought about writing and thought about some specifics but haven't written a word.

Time for you all to check in - these check ins are MANDATORY. Check in by Sept 15th. All I need to know is are you in or out and anything else you want to share. If I don't hear by Sept. 15, I will send you a message at the email you provided. It will be a form type letter reminding you to check in. (The reason I write this is that one year, a person wrote me and said some nasty "mod" sent her a rude note... and she left in a huff.) Please check in in a reply to this post.

Beta signups are starting today too so if you want to beta, there is the place to sign up to do it. It's also a place to check if you are looking for a beta. If you know any folks who enjoy beta reading but aren't doing the challenge, send them our way.

You might want to update your signup with a summary and/or fandom soon so I know where to send beta readers.

On September 15, I will post a snippet thread. That's your chance to leave a snippet as a trailer for coming attractions.

OEAM Big Bang set to go

What is a Big Bang?
A Big Bang is a challenge in which you have 4 months to write a 20,000 word story. You have a second choice - a 10,000 word Mini Bang.

For those of you not writers, there will also be an art challenge to create art for the stories in the challenge.

Beta readers will also be called to help get those stories ready for posting!
